WHAT IS A JOURNAL?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A journal is a book to be used to record your thoughts and experiences in response to events that happen in your life. It is concerned about documenting these events and thinking about how you react to them.

Whilst reviewing and reflecting upon entries in your journal, constantly ask yourself 'what does this say about who I am'? A journal can help you to learn about yourself and will show a clear path of growth which can be reflected upon in months/years to come. We have created these journals to ask thought provoking questions, which will prompt you to document the various periods of your life.

Tip: Some people approach journal writing as if they were composing an email or letter to friends or family – the only difference being that you don’t hit the ‘send’ button. Writing down your thoughts and the way you are feeling can sometimes compel the author into seeing things a lot more clearly – often a problem doesn’t appear so big once it is written down. It can help to work out what you are feeling and prevent knee jerk reactions.
Ultimately, a journal is a record of your life.

It’s All About My Life

We all have stories to tell and know facts about our families, no matter how small. We all have experiences that are unique to us, so why not record these memories for future family members to appreciate and enjoy. ‘My Life’ is your autobiography to be written in your handwriting with absolute honesty to be given to a loved one or kept within your family. Some questions might be considered intrusive, it is up to you, the writer to choose whether to document your views on any subject matter, or not. Documenting your life will enable you to analyse how you have grown as a person over the years and overcome many obstacles during your life; it should also force you to question plans that you should be making for your personal and financial future. Everybody has a story to tell and the My Life journal is your vehicle to record yours.

It’s All About My Travels

Your Seranders Travel Journal should to be used to record your adventures whilst on holiday and any special memories that you encounter. A travel journal is not a diary – it is not to be used to record dates within a year when you plan your trips. It is a narrative that holds an infinite amount of information about your travels to be used to reflect upon at a later date. This journal is an excellent method to record your most treasured experiences whilst on vacation. It can be used to recall places you visited, people you meet, restaurants you enjoyed, favourite beach, favourite ski resorts – the list is endless. This journal is a perfect gift for anyone who will be travelling, be it the gap year student or the seasoned traveller.

It’s All About Our Wedding

This journal is designed to assist you with the planning of your wedding. It is a personal account of all your preparations for this very important day. The aim is to guide and prompt you through the various phases of organising your wedding, thus eliminating the stress involved. The journal is also personal keepsake for your day, as it holds special memories that can be reflected upon in years to come, for your enjoyment and for the enjoyment of your friends and family.

It’s All About My Holidays

The My Holidays journal has been specifically created for the young traveller. Not only does it ask questions in relation to their opinion of the hotel/resort or the meals they have eaten, but it also gives them research work to do prior to the holiday, for instance, the interactive phrases section, which asks the traveller to translate English phrases into the language of the country they are visiting, it also asks questions concerning facts about country and the people etc. Most importantly, they record their understanding of the different cultures they will encounter and also record what they have learnt and how this experience has given them greater knowledge of that society. This journal can be personalised so that it holds information that is important to the young traveller, to be reviewed in years to come to remember childhood holidays. This journal is suitable for children of primary school age.

It’s All About Student Life

The majority of college or university students are aged between 18 and 30 years old. Some will pursue higher education in a foreign country or another part of the home country, often living away from the family home for the very first time. Personal journal writing indicates the extent to which the student is coping with the consequences of moving away from a familiar territory. The individual entries of keeping a journal act as a reflection on academic, social and cultural experiences whilst studying. Use your journal to formulate and record questions that are important to you. Think about questions in relation to your academic work, about your personal life or values. Treat your journal like your best friend. Write your inner most thoughts and feelings - dialogue can become an argument (like essay writing) or a debate with yourself. It can be a great way of expressing your thoughts or ideas. Pictures might help – use whatever method you feel comfortable with to record your thoughts at that particular moment. Teachers often ask their students to keep a journal and sometimes will assign journals entries as part of their homework and can be included in the final grade.

It’s All About Remembrance

The Remembrance journal concerns itself with being a means for friends and family to record their personal memories of the person who has passed. It’s a chance for reliving the past, recalling the impact that that person had on your life and remembering the good and bad times. This journal may also be useful for a terminally ill person to record their thoughts to be passed on to loved ones to let them know exactly how they are feeling. This journal is ideal for the person who might not be comfortable with verbally communicating their thoughts but is happier writing down personal messages to loved ones. There are also pages to place photographs to ensure that your loved one is never forgotten and that their memory lives on.
